Skillset: Matwork Pilates Moorgate 1:1
Gemma qualified as a Pilates Instructor in Australia in 2003. Before this, she completed a Bachelor of Contemporary Arts in Dance. Her passion for Pilates began at age 13, when she began having lower back pain, stopping her from enjoying her ballet classes. She was advised to start Pilates and from her first lesson, she was hooked. Her back pain improved through the therapeutic movements and stretches. What fascinated her the most was how Pilates improved her posture and body awareness which in turn improved her dance technique.
After her Dance degree, she was certified as a Pilates Instructor and began her teaching career in Melbourne Australia. Her adventurous spirit has taken her to London, Nicaragua and Hong Kong where she taught Pilates and dance fitness classes. She has worked in Physiotherapy clinics, in a one-to-one setting, as well as teaching in gyms and Pilates studios, conducting semi-private and large group classes. She has worked with a wide variety of people and enjoys getting to know her clients and helping them achieve their goals. Gemma will create a program specific to your needs, whether it’s recovering from injury, or wanting a general overall workout. Gemma’s one-to-one Matwork Pilates classes aim to be fun, relaxed and effective.
Outside of work, Gemma enjoys keeping fit, along with Pilates she likes to lift weights, run and take dance classes.
